The iPad is all the talk in the nation, lately (the issue is about Culture minister of Korea, Yu In-chon who used the iPad, which has not been approved by KCC). Thereby, KCC declared that if the device turns out that it does not have a negative influence on the local propagation environment then it will be accepted as a registered good. The Radio Research Laboratory (RRL) is conducting engineering, tests on the iPad.
Originally it is forbidden to import a device that does not have a national certification of approval. However, KCC considers refining the process for private imports, so it could be okay to carry international standard technology such as the iPad. At the same time, KCC is going to investigate into other wireless networking devices whether it is harmful or not to local propagation environment.
However, there is no need for an official registration for devices that are used in exhibitions or experiments. An individual just fills out the application called "Requirement Exemption Import Certification" from the director of the RRL and summits it to the customhouse. KCC is seeking the nation's best interests for using safe device. There is an assumption though; this deregulation might be because of Yu In-chon.
