The prosecutors, which is investigating Samsung Group`s alleged collapse of labor unions, has arrested a former Samsung employee.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said on August 25 that it arrested the former managing director of the company for violating the labor union and labor control laws.
According to the prosecutors, the managing director is suspected of ordering the labor union destruction of Samsung Electronics' service partners from July 2013 to December 2015.
It is also known that the executive director reportedly conducted "plan shutdown" to four business partners and urged employees to leave the union in order to create a fear of "labor union activities = unemployment".
He also intervenes in the process of negotiations between labor and management of Samsung Electronics service.
He is also accused of offering tens of millions of won in bribes in return for allowing labor-management negotiations to proceed in favor of the company.
This is the first time that the prosecution has arrested an executive of Samsung Electronics.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors raided the Samsung Economic Research Institute in connection with the collapse of the Samsung union on Tuesday. The Samsung Economic Research Institute is suspected of intervening in the process of writing the document "S Group's labor strategy" in 2012.
The document states that Samsung Electronics' service partners should refuse to negotiate with labor unions, monitor labor activities and force them to leave the union.
