Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. is working with global IT companies to speed up 'Digital Transformation.' Doosan Heavy made an announcement on Sept. 5 that it signed an MOU with Dell EMC for 'Digital Transformation'.
Under the agreement, the two companies agreed to build a comprehensive partnership for Doosan Heavy's digital transformation. It also plans to target the global power generation and water service market by combining design, manufacture, and operation capabilities of Doosan Heavy and Dell EMC's digital capabilities.
Doosan Heavy earlier formed a comprehensive partnership with SAP in June for digital transformation. The first collaboration will be to apply digital solutions to Indian power plants. Based on SAP's platform, Doosan Heavy's power plant combustion optimization solution will be applied to Dell EMC's equipment.
The solution is expected to improve not only power generation efficiency but also reduce emissions of pollutants, the company said. It finished installing its plant in India this month and is planning to operate it in earnest starting from October.
"Dusan Heavy has differentiated its digital-based competitiveness across all business areas such as design, manufacturing, construction and service. We will work with global IT companies such as Dell EMC and SAP to build a digital ecosystem and actively target the global power generation and water service market," said Song Yong-jin, vice president of Doosan Heavy Industries.
Meanwhile, Doosan Heavy established 'Digital Innovation' organization composed of software development and data analysis teams in 2013 and developed 'PreVision' and smartphone to proactively diagnose power plant failures. It is also planning to expand its digital solution to its energy-optimized operating service business.
