LG U Plus said on Sept. 27 that it has successfully completed the U+Smart Drone reconnaissance flight. Demonstrations of the drone started on the same day by showing real-time video transmission by U+Smart Drone flying autonomously from a military grass field.
Previously, drones needed a device to store pictures or images taken during flight, and they needed to be returned without an accident to verify the data. However, the U+Smart Drone video relay system allows field monitoring by sending full HD-class high-definition video that is filmed through the drone to various terminals in real time.
The flight demonstration in the hidden field was conducted on a lawn where smoke was thick and visibility was limited. LG U Plus succeeded in detecting intruders through smart-drone cameras that fly in limited visibility and providing real-time video to a control system.
This will allow people to deploy drones to dangerous places with limited visibility for faster response and faster control.
In addition, it also showed a search for a place that was created by a coastal cliff that was difficult to search for. High-resolution cameras that are installed in the drone can check for vulnerabilities in search in air and use zoom-in/out functions to check details and respond quickly.
"We will continue to upgrade our technology so that we can effectively and reliably control U+ Smart Drone. We plan to provide the best drone service in a variety of industrial sectors," said Cho Won-seok, head of LG U Plus new business group.
