Police have filed for an arrest warrant for Orion Group Vice Chairman Lee Hwa-kyung on charges of building a private villa worth 20 billion won with the company fund. Her husband, Chairman Dam Chul-gon, was summoned for questioning by the police a month ago.
According to police, Lee spent 20 billion won in corporate fund to build a private villa on a total area of 890㎡ in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.
Lee is the second daughter of the founder of Dongyang Group and the wife of Orion Group Chairman Dam Chul-gon. Police summoned Chairman Dam to police station in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, for questioning on charges of embezzlement.
Police suspect that Chairman Dam also built a villa and spent 20 billion won in corporate funds from 2008 to 2014.
Regarding this, an Orion official said, "The investigation by the prosecution revealed that it was cleared of suspicion. It was built as a company training center, not as an individual villa, and Chairman Dam never used it personally."
