Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association (KOPIA) appointed Rep. Song Young-gil as an advisor to the association at the National Assembly building in Yeouido, Seoul on Oct. 8.
The ceremony was attended by Chairman Lee Wan-geun of KOPIA, Vice Chairman Chung Woo-sik of the association, Chairman Lee Jung-hyun of JSPV and Vice President Lim Jong-sup of S-Energy, a KOPIA spokesman said.
The association has been trying to develop the solar energy industry by collecting opinions from its members for improving government policies. With this occasion, it is expected that the government will actively improve the system and policies for industrial development in the future, he said.
Meanwhile, the association formed the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation TFT with its members last summer for energy and economic cooperation between the two Koreas to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula. TFT is working to ensure smooth energy and economic cooperation in the upcoming era of peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Song Young-gil is a four-term incumbent lawmaker and chairman of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea's special committee for Northeast Asia peace and cooperation. Therefore, this appointment will serve as the basis for cooperation among the association, the National Assembly and corporations for the inter-Korean energy economic cooperation, the spokesman said.
