POSCO has achieved the sales of 1 million tons of thick plates to EEW Group, the world`s No. 1 marine wind structure manufacturer, a POSCO spokesman said on Oct. 9.
POSCO held a ceremony to celebrate the event at the headquarters of EEW Group in Germany and delivered an appreciation plaque to the EEW Group chairman on Oct. 2.
At the event, Seo Young-ki, head of the POSCO energy shipbuilding marketing division, said, "The long-term partnership between the group and POSCO has been continued for 18 years. We deeply appreciate the company's confidence in the POSCO products and its ability to achieve the cumulative sales of more than 1 million tons of thick plate. We look forward to continuing our close partnership."
EEW Group boasting of an 80-year history is a business leader of Submerged Arc Welded (SAW) and has supplied high-quality SAW steel pipe products in the energy industry.
It established a production base in Korea in 2000 and began dealing with POSCO. In 2015, its second plant was established in Korea, laying the groundwork for rapid response to demands in the Asian market and strengthening cooperation with POSCO.
POSCO Chairman Choi Jeong-woo plans to let POSCO to increase supply to major oil gas companies such as Exxon Mobil and Saudi Aramco, while actively creating new demand for wind power industries that are growing as the next generation of energy sources, the spokesman said.
