Recognized as a global business competency

SPC Group announced on Oct. 10 that it has acquired a right to operate the Shake Shack business in Singapore and plans to open its first store in the first half of next year.

SPC Group affiliate Paris Croissant and U.S. Sheikh Shack Enterprise signed a contract for the business operation in Singapore on Sept. 25 and decided to open their first store in the first half of 2019. The first store will be located at "Jewel Chang," a multiple complex to be newly opened in 2019.

Shake Shack chose Korea's SPC Group rather than a local company as its partner in entering the Singaporean market.

SPC Group opened seven stores in two years since it introduced Korea's No. 1 shop in Seoul  in July 2016, and has grown Gangnam branch into one of the world's biggest sales outlets.

In addition, it has been operating 350 Paris Baguette shops since 2004 through its successful advancement in major countries, including France, China, the U.S., Singapore and Vietnam. It also successfully introduced Baskin Robbins, Dunkin Donuts and other overseas brands to Korea.

"Shake Shack has recognized Singapore's geographical importance and found good opportunities to work together with SPC Group," said Michael Kark, Shake Shack vice president in charge  of global licensing.

"We are planning to open more than 10 Shake Shack shops in Singapore by 2024, so that Paris Baguette can have synergy effects in expanding its global market." said a SPC Group spokesperson.
