LS Cable & System made an announcement on Oct. 11 that it received an order for the ultra-high-pressure cable project worth $125.5 million (W140 billion) in the turn key base from Bahrain Hydro & Power Authority.
LS Cable is going to supply premium-class 400kV ultra-high-pressure cables and also carry out all electricity and civil engineering work.
LS Cable said its successful completion of the Bahrain`s major transmission network construction projects over the past decade has contributed to winning the order.
"In particular, Bahrain recently discovered 80 billion barrels of submarine oil field so that our company is expected to win additional order from the depressed Middle East market," said CEO Myung Noh-hyun of LS Cable.
LS Cable has kept the largest share in the Middle East market by supplying ultra-high-pressure submarine and underground cables chiefly to Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait. In 2012 and 2017, it won contracts from Qatar to export its largest submarine and ultra-high-pressure cables worth 500 billion won and 220 billion won, respectively.
