Samsung Electronics is planning to strengthen its competitive edge in automotive semiconductor business by releasing its automotive processor brand 'Exynos Auto' and image sensor brand 'ISOCEL Auto'.
Samsung Electronics participated in the IZB 2018 International Suppliers Fair, which was held in Wolfsburg, Germany on October 16, unveiled the Exynos Auto and ISOCELL Auto brands and introduced next-generation part solutions.
Samsung Electronics is planning to expand its business area not only to mobile devices but also to automobile markets through its first release of semiconductor brands.
Samsung Electronics has divided the Exynos Auto product line into three categories: 'V Series' for In-Vehicle Infotainment Systems (IVI), 'A Series' for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and 'T Series' for Telematics Systems.
ISOCELL Auto is based on ISOCELL technology that minimizes interference between pixels and implements high-quality images with small pixels. ISOCELL Auto improves the recognition of changing roads and surrounding environments in real time and enables precise object identification.
For example, it helps prevent potential accidents by recognizing the road environment clearly in situations where the light and dark changes instantly, such as when a car passes through a tunnel.
"This product will offer new experiences and values in the automotive market with fast communication, accurate sensing, and strong computing functions that are required in the era of smart cars and self-driving cars," said Han Kyu-han, executive director of Samsung Electronics' DS division.
Starting from the end of this year, Samsung Electronics is planning to supply its customers with a variety of auto brand products sequentially.
