Civic groups, labor and legal circles have called for a thorough investigation into the corporate leadership and the groups that helped Samsung Group to collapse labor union.

Asserting that there was still work on the collapse of labor unions in other Samsung affiliates, they also demanded that Samsung officially scrap its management of the union.

The Korean Metal Workers Union, the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (PSPD), and the Minbyun-Lawyers for a Democratic Society held a joint press conference in front of the Samsung Seocho office in Seocho-gu, Seoul on Oct. 1, saying, "We must set an example of a firm response to labor union destruction crimes through investigation and indictment of those involved in the collapse of the union as well as the leaders.

They asserted, "So far, Samsung Group has not even apologized for the collapse of the union and other affiliates of the group such as Samsung S1, Samsung Welstory, Samsung C&T CS Motors and Samsung SDI have still engaged in operation to interrupt union activities and collapse the union."

"Samsung should admit its crimes against union destruction and apologize to those who have died and those who have suffered from it. Also they should officially declare the abolition of the group-level non-union management, which is being overshadowed by the announcement that it will hire workers directly from Samsung Electronics Service," they asserted.
