Hanwha Q Cells Korea has announced its plan to become a global leader in the solar energy field through its Jincheon factory that has the smart factory system.

In its media factory tour event held at its Jincheon factory in Jincheon County, North Chungcheong Province, the company said on Oct. 30 that it has achieved the highest market share in major markets such as the U.S., Japan and Korea based on its products produced through the world's best smart factory system and technology.

This is the first time that the smart factory system at Jincheon plant, which started mass production in the first quarter of this year, has been unveiled to the media. The factory has a floor area of 190,000 square meters, which can accommodate 26 soccer fields.

Smart factory that is applied to Jincheon plant is a system that automatically organizes and packages products and is considered as a key technology of the fourth industrial revolution. Smart factory has characteristics that allow real-time monitoring and analysis of work processes since all facilities and devices are connected by wireless communication.

Hanwha Q Cells' Jincheon plant, the world's largest solar cell plant, can produce 2.2 million cells a day, and more than 70 percent of its products are exported overseas. Solar energy products produced at Jincheon plant have been selected as Europe's top brand module for the fifth consecutive year by the European research institution, EuPD.

"Only companies with both cost competitiveness and technological competitiveness will survive the restructuring period that will continue through 2020 and will continue to grow in rising demand after 2020," said Yoon Ju, director of Hanwha Q Cells global sales planning and strategy division.
