Renault Samsung sold a total of 14,582 units in September, including 6,713 domestic vehicles and 7,869 for exports. This is a 44.3 percent drop from the same period of last year.
Compared to a year ago, domestic sales fell by 8.8 percent, while exports plunged by 58.2 percent, worsening its overall performance.
"With the decrease in the number of working days due to the Chuseok holiday, domestic sales declined, and exports plunged due to temporary production adjustments caused by changes in the model year of export vehicles," a Renault Samsung official said.
In terms of domestic sales, a total of 2,526 QM6 units were sold, up 2.4 percent from the same period last year.
As gasoline model QM6 GDe, which was released in September last year, showed a favorable performance, the aggregated sales of QM6 units increased 6.9 percent to 20,976 units this year.
SM3 recorded sales of 414 units, 11.6 percent more, with high cost effectiveness. Other models such as SM6 (-23.8%), SM5 (-30.4%), and QM3 (-39.5%) saw their sales drop from a year earlier.
"This month, when the number of working days and production volume are restored, shipments will be similar to last year's," a Renault Samsung official said.
