James Cameron came to Korea to attend the Seoul Digital Forum (SDF) in Seoul. On May 13, before the forum started, James Cameron spoke with Choi See-joong, Chairman of Korea Communications Commission (KCC) about the outlook and revitalization of the 3DTV industry.
James Cameron might be a huge backer in 3D industry since his movie Avatar was a big success. He believes that 3DTV industry will dominate the future media. How does he know Probably Eywa had told him. (For Your Information, Eywa is the spiritual character in the movie Avatar)
At the meeting with Choi, Cameron presented that the development of production skill, compression technology platforms, and broadcast communication have already reached a considerable level. Yet, once again he didn't forget to point out the importance of contents for popularizing 3D. Cameron also prospects that not only movies will be produced in 3D, but also shows, sports, and others. He believes that the value of 3D contents will continue to increase in the near future. Due to the fact that Korean customers are very interested in new technology, he thinks that Korea would be the best test-bed for 3D. Thus, he showed his interest on the "Stability of Watching 3D View Council' from KCC and suggested sharing information and mutual cooperation to bring about positive results.
As regards, Choi stated that Korea is also preparing for future 3DTV broadcasting by promoting related policies and conducting pilot broadcast through satellite broadcasting from last January. Also Choi encouraged Cameron for cooperation. On May 19, Korea will conduct 3D demonstration at the national TV for the first time in the world.
