Lee Jung-mi, chairman of the Justice Party, said on Nov. 22 that Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, should be responsible for the Samsung Biologics' accounting fraud case, not an accounting firm or the national pension.
"If there was no illegal management transfer, such matters as illegal accounting manipulation or the merger of Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries would not happen," Rep. Lee said.
"The stronghold of Samsung, the nation's super-sized player, has been gradually faltering since the committee's decision on Samsung Biologics. Although the pace may be slow, I am sure the Justice Party's efforts to confront the evil effects of the Samsung Republic will finally pay off a little," she said.
"The Justice Party has not fought alone against Samsung itself. If Samsung remains a ruling group above the rule of law for illegal management transfer, it will no longer be able to keep the world's top-class business group," Rep. Lee said.
"What Samsung should do now is not a legal action. It should first apologize for the 4.8 trillion won accounting fraud, a large-scale economic crime, which is hard to find in the world," she added.
