As the security dispute over Huawei's 5G telecommunication equipment has not subsided, LG Uplus, which introduced this equipment, has announced that it will seek public security verification from international organizations.
Regarding the introduction of Huawei's equipment in the construction of 5G mobile communication network, Ha Hyun-hwoi, CEO and vice chairman of LG Uplus, told reporters on Dec. 19 at the press conference, "We will receive international public verification so that there will be no worries over security left."
Noting that LG Uplus promised to receive a source code for Huawei's equipment and carry out complete security verification at the National Assembly audit, Vice Chairman Ha said, "Related to this, we are currently conducting security verification through Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and domestic experts."
"In the first half of next year, we will implement the security verification process at an international security verification institution in Spain with attendance of domestic security experts, government officials, and media," he said.
"Because 5G network is a 'period infrastructure' that applies to all industries as well as mobile telecommunication services, security issues are very important. Even if it's not Huawei's equipment, it's right to thoroughly verify it," Vice Chairman Ha added.
