GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C) said on Dec. 24 that it has won the 635 million Singapore dollars (about 524 billion won) order for the construction of the N101 section of the North-South Corridor (NSC) project from the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA).
It is a project to construct an underground highway with 990 meters long, an elevated 1 kilometer long bridge, and auxiliary facilities in the Beach Road area in southern Singapore. The construction period is 95 months, and the construction is set to begin in December 2018 for completion in November 2026.
GS &C lost to its competitors in the bid in terms of price, but was selected as the final bidder after receiving a high technology score. A company official said that the bid, which was conducted with design, construction techniques and technology proposed, was successful using the company's BIM, a three-dimensional design model.
GS E& C has won seven underground subway projects that were ordered by LTA since 2009. With this deal, it has attained eight LTA projects worth a total of 3.7 trillion won. Notably, the LTA entrusted GS E& C to build the T301 project, which was its biggest construction project ever (about 1.7 trillion won) in 2016.
"Through successful implementation of the NSC N101 project, we will further strengthen the credibility and status of GS E&C in the Singapore construction market and contribute to joint growth with business partners," said Lee Sang-ki, head of GS E&C infrastructure division.
