On May 20, Ministry of Knowledge Economy has a held public hearing, "Global Leading Top 10 World Premier Materials (WPM)," at the Seoul Education Culture Hall, Seoul. More than 600 experts attended at the hearing to confirm the business of request for proposal (RFP).
WPM is the governmental plan that invests KRW one trillion to commercialize the materials as the first in the world and to create the market with continued market dominance by 2018. It aims for 30 percent of market share and US$ 10 billion national revenue.
Last March, Choi Kyung-Hwan, President of Ministry of Knowledge Economy chose the Planning and Development team and 10 materials at the Components and Materials Development Committees.
At this hearing, the team announced the final goal and the core technologies of the materials and collected public opinions. The team is composed of industrial-materials experts and patent and economic analysis experts analyzed industry mega-trends, market forecasts, patent, and technology trends of the market. And this detailed analysis will be reflected in the project.
