Nine financial companies, including the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) and Woori Card, have filed a 51.5 billion won lawsuit against BC Card, according to a report by Business Watch on Jan. 16.

The nine BC Card members, including IBK and Woori Card, filed a lawsuit against BC Card with the Seoul Central District Court in May 2017, calling for return of unjust gains from taxi fee approval commissions

They argue that BC Card has been receiving transaction approval commissions and taxi payment fees doubly for more than a decade since the post-paid transportation card was issued in 2007.

Although the BC Card operation committee, a gathering of BC Card and its members, decided to replace the existing transaction approval commissions with the taxi payment fees in 2006, BC Card imposed the commissions on its members doubly by deceiving them, they insisted.

BC Card, on the other hand, claimed that the operation committee decided to create a new taxi payment fees at that time. "We did not deceive member companies," BC Card said. "For the past 10 years, the members have paid fees without any objections and provided trading tables for them. Now, we cannot understand their intention."
