Hanhwa Corp. said on Feb. 13 that it conducted its first shipment of chemicals, including industrial gunpowder and detonator, to the United Arab Emirates and Thailand at its Boeun workplace in North Chungcheong Province. The total volume of its exports to the two countries is expected to reach about 30 billion won.
Hanwha is planning to export 9,000 tons of industrial gunpowder and 2.6 million units of detonator to Gulf Explosives, a UAE local gunpowder company. It also pushes for the construction of production plants there to deliver all of its chemicals and raw materials. These export products are used in UAE's construction projects and so on.
This is the first time that a South Korean company is exporting industrial gunpowder to UAE, and it is meaningful in that it has started entering into the Middle East gunpowder market.
It will also export 700 tons of industrial gunpowder and 2 million units of detonator to Mech Chem, a local chemicals company in Thailand.
"The contracts that were made this time are the result of our continuous efforts to find overseas suppliers and enhance product performance." said a Hanwha official. "Although it is not easy to enter the foreign local market, we will try to grow into a global mining company by informing our customers of the differentiated superiority of South Korean industrial gunpowder."
