Hyundai Rotem plans to participate in a global defense fair held in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) to find ways to export defense products such as K2 tanks. Hyundai Rotem made an announcement on Feb. 18 that it will participate in the "IDEX 2019" international defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from Feb. 17 (local time) to 21.
IDEX is the largest annual land, sea, and air defense exhibition in the Middle East and Africa. It marks its 13th anniversary this year since it was first held in 1993, and 1,500 companies from 70 countries will participate in the exhibition.
Hyundai Rotem has participated in the IDEX exhibition for six times since its first appearance in 2007, except in 2013. The exhibition will have a joint exhibition hall between Kia Motors and Hyundai Motor Group, displaying for the first time a full-size model of the self-developing HR-SHERPA, along with models of K2 and obstacle-displacement tanks.
Hyundai Rotem will focus on operating activities to export K2 tanks to such areas as the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe where there are high demands for the tanks. In particular, it plans to discuss ways to cooperate while promoting the technology and competitiveness of the K2 tanks through interviews with high-ranking military officials in the regions.
"We will continue to strengthen our growth engines in the defense industry by proactively responding to high-tech products such as unmanned vehicles that are popular in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution," said an official of Hyundai Rotem.
