Woojung Education & Culture Foundation, founded by the Booyoung Group, said on Feb. 18 that it held a ceremony to present scholarships to 102 foreign students from 33 countries including Asia, Africa, and Latin America at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in central Seoul.

Foreign diplomats from more than 30 countries, including ambassadors of 16 countries, attended the event to encourage foreign students studying in Korea.

Lee Se-joong, the deputy chairman of the Woojung Education & Culture Foundation, said, "Please have a pride in being a scholarship student of the foundation. When you enter society in the future, you will be active in various fields around the world, playing a bridge role between Korea and the world."

The foundation, which was established by Chairman Lee Joong-keun in 2008, has offered scholarships twice a year to foreign students who have been studying in Korea since 2010.

Starting in 2013, the number of eligible countries and students rose sharply and the scholarships increased to 8 million won per person per year. The total number of students who have received such benefits over the past nine years came to1,525 and the total amount reached 5.8 billion won.
