KT and VR contents developer Appnori announced on February 19 that they will introduce "VR Sports" based on 5G through "GiGA Live TV" at Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC 2019), which will be held in Barcelona, Spain starting on February 25.
The GiGA Live TV, which was released in November last year, is a service that allows users to enjoy contents through wireless VR devices without having to connect to their Smartphones or PCs.
KT is providing VR contents in various genres including movies, sports and games on the GiGA Live TV and plans to continue to expand its new contents in the future.
"VR Sports" is a game that combines virtual reality technology with popular sports such as baseball, table tennis and badminton. When users wear VR devices, they can experience real-life services such as playing sports in real stadiums.
The VR Sports baseball game, which will be introduced at MWC 2019, is a content that is developed to enjoy anytime, anywhere with the GiGA Live TV.
Also, it provides multiplayer function so that many people can connect to the wireless network at the same time and enjoy baseball games together.
KT is planning to demonstrate multi-player baseball games that pitchers and batters enjoy together at KT's exhibition hall that is set up at MWC 2019. Visitors can also experience the VR Sports.
KT expects wireless multi-player VR game market to grow greatly once 5G network is commercialized. Starting with the VR Sports, it is planning to expand VR game contents of the GiGA Live TV.
