SK Telecom is working with Deutsche Telecom in Germany to develop blockchain ID. SK Telecom announcement on February 21 that it will sign a business agreement with T-Labs, a German research institute affiliated with Deutsche Telecom, for cooperation in blockchain business, including development of mobile identification service, at 'MWC  in Barcelona, Spain on the 25th (local time).

A mobile block chain ID card is a kind of digital ID card that can be used in a variety of areas that require identification, access control, and various transactions and contracts. Currently, personal information such as birth date and phone number should be disclosed for online subscription or online purchase.

SK Telecom and Deutsche Telecom are planning to introduce how mobile block chain ID cards work through a joint demonstration at MWC exhibition booth. Visitors can obtain virtual IDs using block chains and use them to enter booths of both companies, collect tokens through content experience, and exchange them for prizes. Both companies believe that once mobile block chain ID cards are activated, it will be possible for travelers traveling between Korea and Germany to use their services only through easy identification and registration procedures.

"Mobile block chain ID cards can be used in various fields such as access control, on- and off-line logins, and contracts." said Director Oh Se-hyun of SK Telecom's Block Chain/Authorized Unit.
