Cho Hyun-ah

Former Korean Air Vice President Cho Hyun-ah, 45, was sued by her husband, who is in the process of filing a divorce, for assault and other charges.

According to the police, Mr. Park, 45, the husband of Cho, filed a lawsuit against Cho at a police station in Seoul on Feb. 19 for charges of special injury, child abuse, and the breach of duty under the Specific Economic Crime Punishment Law.

Park filed a divorce suit with the Seoul Family Court in April last year, citing his wife's verbal abuse and assaults as the main reason for his divorce.

Park has argued that since the so-called "nut rage" incident in December 2014, Cho's violence has increased, making it difficult to maintain his marriage. The two have been separated since May 2017.

Cho married Park, a plastic surgeon who was a classmate of an elementary school, in October 2010, and has twin children.

In response, Cho refuted that her marriage has become difficult because of Park's alcoholism, not because of her verbal abuse and assaults. Cho argued that the controversy intensified when she let him not to drink alcohol while he was undergoing treatment for alcoholism. As for the claims of child abuse, she dismissed it as "an entirely groundless one-sided argument."

In response, Park explained, "I became dependent on alcohol due to the stress I received during my marriage, including being closely monitored by drivers for my movements."
