LS Cable will supply submarine cables to Brazil. LS Cable made an announcement on Feb. 25 that it will supply about 100 kilometers of ultra-high pressure submarine cable and ground cable to ISA CTEEP, a Brazilian power network operator, and Santa Catarina Island, a resort in southern Brazil.

ISA CTEEP is responsible for 25% of the total power transmission in Brazil and 60% of the southeast region, and this project is to build a new power grid to solve the power shortage problem.

LS Cable is known to have been highly evaluated in the process of winning the project thanks to its experience of carrying out the first offshore wind power generation plant in the U.S. and the large underwater power network projects in North and South America such as Canada and Venezuela.

More than 60 percent of all power generation in Brazil depends on water power using the Amazon River and the Parana River, and the problem of lack of power generation is constantly arising in the event of drought.

As the Brazilian government seeks to expand and diversify the supply and demand of electricity such as wind and solar power, it is highly likely that the electricity market will expand in the future.

"We have prepared the foundation for expanding the Brazilian market by supplying submarine cable to Brazil for the first time. We plan to actively advance into neighboring countries through close cooperation with ISA CTEEP," said CEO Myeong No-hyeon of LS Cable.
