SK Telecom made an announcement on Feb. 28 that it has signed an MOU with Singtel, Singapore's largest telecommunication company to strengthen cooperation in games and e-sports business.

Singtel is Singapore's top wire and wireless carrier with 19 trillion won in sales and 40 trillion won in market value as of 2018. It has 700 million customers in 21 countries, including Singapore, Australia and Africa.

Through the MOU, the two companies decided to work together to lead the development of Asian game and e-sports industries.

First of all, they have decided to work closely in various fields such as e-sports platform, new games and media service.

Through this, SK Telecom plans to shape its global business of e-sports products and game solutions. It is also looking for opportunities for joint ventures in Asian markets, in addition to strengthen its leadership in the game industry

In addition, it also said that global expansion of 5G-based media solutions such as VR/AR can be even more encouraged.

Meanwhile, Arthur Lang, CEO of Singtel International, said, "We are happy to work with SK Telecom, the flagship player of Korea, the e-sports powerhouse. Based on the capabilities of both sides, we expect synergy to occur."
