Huawei announced on March 4 that Sunrise will start commercializing its first 5G service in Switzerland during March.
"Sunrise 5G is going smoothly and will be Switzerland's first 5G pioneer," said Olaf Swantee, CEO of Sunrise at MWC 2019.
Sunrise 5G network will be commercialized in 150 regions throughout Switzerland in March. In early December 2017, Sunrise and Huawei successfully completed business demonstrations such as 5G network-based virtual reality, panoramic video live, and 12-channel ultra high-definition video.
In the 3.5GHz band, the downlink processing speed reached 3.28Gbps. It finished establishing standards for end-to-end 5G network for the first time in Switzerland in June of 2018. In November, it established a standard 5G network in Laax, a ski resort in Switzerland. Sunrise is planning to quickly expand its 5G network to about 150 areas in Switzerland within this month.
Huawei is a strategic partner of Sunrise, providing innovative end-to-end 5G commercial solutions such as wireless networks, transport networks and core networks.
