KT announced on March 5 at K-Live in Nuri Dream Square, Mapo-gu, Seoul, that it held a hologram demonstration between Korea and the U.S. using 5G network for the first time in the world.

The demonstration will mark the release of first single "LET"S SHUT UP & DANCE" of Michael Jackson's dedication album "The Greatest Dance".

KT introduced holograms without delay despite the 9,500 kilometers between Korea and Los Angeles by linking 5G mobile hotspot to Floating Hologram system, which is located in K-Live in Sangam-dong.

Floating Hologram system is a technique for creating holographic images such as floating in the air by projecting a
three-dimensional pictures produced by holography onto thin and transparent metal objects.

This technique is frequently used for performances and advertisements as the characters in hologram images can interact with real people.

On March 5, Hwang Yoon-ha, CEO of 7SIX9 Asia, is talking to Jerry Greenberg through a hologram at K-Live in Nuri Dream Square, Mapo-gu, Seoul, for the first time to demonstrate the world's first intercontinental hologram using 5G network.

The main character of this hologram show is Jerry L, who is staying in L.A. and is Michael Jackson's producer, friend and leading producer of the year's dedicated album.

KT used an international network that connects South Korea and the U.S. for the hologram telepresence demonstration. This method sends hologram data sent from LA to Korea via international network to Sangam K-Live site through 5G network, which is newly built in South Korea.

Telepresence is a combination of 'tele' meaning distance and 'presence' meaning attendance.

This refers to a technology that allows videoconferencing while looking at a person's face on a full-size screen. 'Hologram Telepresence' is a combination of holographic technology with Telepresence technology, and the hologram meetings seen in sci-fi movies such as The King'sman and The Avengers became possible with KT's technology.

At the press conference, singer Jason Derulo, who co-produced Michael Jackson's first single, made a surprise appearance on a hologram video. Jason Derulo thanked KT for its participation in the hologram video.

Meanwhile, KT established the world's first hologram theater, K-Live, in 2014, and has produced and screened various K-POP hologram contents.
