SK Telecom is gearing up to prepare for the final stage by installing 5G new technologies into Galaxy S10 and establishing 5GX experience zone ahead of release of world's first 5G Smartphone.
SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics finished developing and verifying '5G-LTE Combination Technology' and announced on March 13 that it will be applied to world No. 1 5G Smart Phone called Galaxy S10 5G that will be released soon.
'5G-LTE Aggregation Technology' is a technology that dramatically increases transmission speed by utilizing 5G and LTE network together for sending and receiving data.
On March 11, SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics succeeded in sending data at 2.65Gbps by combining 1.5Gbps of 5G and 1.15Gbps of LTE through Galaxy S10 5G that is equipped with this technology.
5G Smartphone that has this technology has 80% faster transmission speed than 5G phone that uses only 5G. One HD movie (2GB) can be downloaded in about 6 seconds.
By doing so, users with SK Telecom can experience the fastest speed in South Korea even if they use the same 5G Smartphone.
SKT's release model supports 2.6Gbps data transmission from the beginning and will be upgraded once more to 2.7Gbps during first half of this year.
This technology will be applied sequentially to 5G phones that will be released in the future.
Starting March 14, SK Telecom will display Galaxy S10 5G and LG V50 ThinkC 5G at the ICT Experience Center "T.um" on the first floor of its headquarters in Eulji-ro.
Visitors can touch the 5G smartphone connected to the 5G network and experience various services.
SK Telecom is planning to expand '5GX Experience Zone' to about 30 regions in South Korea in April.
"Even if users use 5G phones like other service providers, SK Telecom can provide the best quality through application of next-generation technologies, frequency, and network optimization." said Director Park Jin-hyo of ICT Technology Center.
