On March 13, SK Telecom signed an MOU with MBC that it will jointly develop various innovative new media businesses based on 5G network. In the future, both companies are planning to find variety of new solutions and businesses based on 5G in the New Media area.
SK Telecom and MBC will jointly develop a 5G live broadcasting system. The two companies will jointly push for pilot application of the developed system to various fields such as sports and broadcasting of various events.
By utilizing characteristics of ultra-fast, ultra-low delay, and super-large capacity of 5G, both companies are planning to develop 5G contents that are made by mobile from stage of production of broadcasting to service.
It is also planning to work together on creating and commercializing next-generation media such as AR (Augmented Reality) and hologram as well as digital advertising business based on 5G.
"We hope that MBC`s imagination will be combined with SK Telecom`s 5G technology," said MBC`s strategic planning director Park Tae-kyung.
"If broadcasting companies and telecommunication companies work together from the stage of production of broadcasting services, a completely new example of innovation can be created," said Kim Hyuk, head of 5GX Media Business Group.
