LG has decided to provide 10,000 "LG Electronics large capacity air cleaners" to elementary, middle and high schools nationwide for free at an executive meeting presided over by Chairman Koo Kwang-mo.
In addition, LG Uplus has decided to support IoT (Internet of Things) air quality alert service and AI (Artificial Intelligence) speakers together for free. The total price of these goods and services is some 15 billion won.
"We have decided to donate air purifiers so that children and teens who are more susceptible to fine dust than adults can study and live in a healthier environment," an LG Group official said on March 12.
"The intention of the management, including Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, has all been brought together to ensure that companies play their roles," he said.
The news on the donation of 10,000 air purifiers by LG was widely known by Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon on his social network service. "The decision was made by Koo's executive meeting and Vice Chairman Kwon Young-soo delivered the message to me," Prime Minister Lee said on his SNS. "It is a high-capacity product that purifies the air quickly in 1.5 times the size of the classroom."
LG had already supplied 3,100 air purifiers to 262 child welfare facilities nationwide in January this year
