LG CNS President Kim Young-sup announces his cloud business strategy at a press conference

LG CNS said it will lead the role of converting over 90 percent of LG Group affiliates' IT systems to the cloud within five years. It will also enter the Asia-Pacific Cloud SI business operators top 3 by 2021 under a parallel strategy of hybrid & multi-cloud services.

LG CNS announced the LG CNS' cloud business strategy on March 22. On the same day, LG CNS said it will act as a control tower to accelerate LG Group's transition to the cloud and digital innovation.

As a result, LG CNS plans to increase the conversion rate of LG affiliates such as LG Electronics, LG Chem and LG Display to over 90 percent by 2023 by sequentially spreading the transition to the cloud in accordance with the transition priority that takes into account the industrial characteristics and business structure of their affiliates such as manufacturing, telecommunications and services.

In particular, the company plans to transform the group affiliates' IT systems into a public cloud by more than 70 percent. Such a shift to a large public cloud could be the first of its kind among South Korean conglomerates to enhance group-level business competitiveness and strengthen business agility in the fast-changing global market.

In addition, LG CNS will offer the cloud management platform "CloudXper," which is scheduled to be released in the first half of the year, as a single platform for LG affiliates to use with the same system.

"Cloud is a huge trend that cannot be overcome, and how it leads this trend will determine the success or failure of future corporate innovation," said President Kim Young-sup of LG CNS.

"LG CNS is rapidly securing global-level technical capabilities through partnerships with cloud-specialized companies and will lead the domestic cloud market by spreading them to domestic companies," he added.
