The second "Green broadcast communications council" was held On May 28. At the meeting, the KCC,broadcasting, telecommunications, cable, Internet industry CEOs, and government affiliated organization representatives gathered in the Press Center in Seoul. All agreed the importance of greenhouse gas reduction and announced the energy saving goals which exceeded broadcast communication's original plan in this year by 30 percent.
Also, they proclaimed their continuous determination on saving energy by setting the conservation goals 5 and 10 percent higher than this year for 2011 and 2012.
Meanwhile, according to the Greenhouse Gas Management System deployment plan named "2010 Green Broadcast Communications Future Directions" by KCC, the communication agency will build greenhouse gas inventories by 2011, public broadcasting and cable will induce it by 2013.
Additionally, many other developments have been discussed such as revitalization of Cloud services which contributes IT resources reduction, low-carbon green model cities, the Meteorological Agency's Green IT system construction and the Green ICT skills development which improves current network efficiency 1,000 times better.
Continuously, the report "Broadcasting and Communications Convergence Strategy" expected stated that incorporation between broadcasting and other industries accomplish the green growth by reducing the social costs. Public-private joint will spread convergence services through demonstration project and the training in the 6 main fields, administration, medical, transportation, agriculture, industry and commerce and finance. In addition, the government will support them systematically.
