LG Uplus has released a unlimited 5G data service.
It is planning to focus its efforts on popularizing 5G through completely unlimited data services and secure market initiatives.
"Competition for the 5G rate system, which started with LG Uplus last Friday, has led competitors to launch an unlimited data rate system for 5G this week," said Park Jong-wook, head of LG Uplus' mobile product group. "With the idea that we're going to end the competition, we've secured the leadership of the industry's plan by releasing the completely unlimited 5G data service and the most affordable 5G data rate plan."
The Unlimited Data Rate system, which will be introduced this time, is a new 5G special (85,000 won per month) and a 5G premium (95,000 won per month) with increased benefits.
The two types of unlimited data rate system are offered "as per LTE fee." By the end of June, customers who subscribe to 5G specials and premium plans can use services at 58,500 won (including VAT) and 66,000 won (including VAT) per month for 24 months with additional discounts.
Through the promotion, the company will also provide unlimited 5G data service that does not have a limit on monthly speed until the end of June.
In addition, the company will provide a "data roaming plan without worry about speed capacity" at half price, which allows unlimited roaming data to be used in 60 major countries when subscribing the data service.
"Since it is early in 5G market, we are going to analyze traffic for completely unlimited services by looking at customers' data utilization rate," said a representative for LG Uplus. "We will prepare to provide high-quality, unlimited service even after the promotion period."
