KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu visited a 5G network establishment site and a store in Gwanghwamun, central Seoul, to encourage on-site employees. On April 4, Hwang visited executives and employees in the network sector, including Oh Sung-mok, the head of the network division, and the site of the establishment of the 5G network to check the current status of the service quality.
Starting with the office building of KT Gwangwhamun, Hwang moved the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Jongno area to quality measuring vehicles, conducted quality measurements in the road environment with 5G smartphones, and visited places where 5G base stations were built and carefully examined the site of the network's establishment.
Afterwards, Hwang visited a sales store in Jongno with CEO Ha Hae-mo, who is in charge of Customer & Media, to check the store's status and receive reports on sales of 5G smartphones.
In order to become a store specialized in 5G, the store has newly designed inside and outside of the store with 5G images and installed Giga Live TV in the store so that customers can experience 5G VR anytime.
"KT has been preparing 5G ahead of any other telecommunication companies around the world by providing the world's first 5G pilot service at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics," Hwang said. "The company will be reborn as South Korea's 5G No. 1 operator with the fastest pace of reduction based on the country's maximum 5G coverage and 5G First strategy."
