The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on April 11 that it will voluntarily recall 62,509 units of 19 models manufactured or imported from Hyundai Motor, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Audi Volkswagen Korea and Porsche Korea.
Subjects to the recall are 54,161 Grand Starex cars whose safety standards were exceeded, 4,596 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, 3,437 Audi cars whose fixing pins in the rear central seat head restraint were confirmed, and 191 Porsche units where side air bag sensor defects were found.
In the case of 54,161 Grand Starex (TQ) wagon, the maximum speed of the highest speed limit (ECU) was found to be 110.4 km/h, exceeding the limit of 110 km/h.
Hyundai plans to update its ECU program through a recall to adjust the maximum speed to meet the standard. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to impose fines on Hyundai Motor.
Fog lamps of the 4,596 units, including Mercedes-Benz A200, will be replaced as the light intensity of the reflector on the back fog lamps exceeds the standard. The ministry also plans to impose fines on Benz later.
