Korea Smart Human Technology Association (KOSHUMA) was established on April 18 to contribute to industrial and technological development with the aim of establishing a human-centered smart human life environment.

An inaugural meeting to launch KOSHUMA was held at the Kensington Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul on April 18 with attendance of some 300 dignitaries and guests, including Rep. Hwang Hee of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea, who is a member of the National Assembly's special committee on smart cities, and Song Hee-kyung of the main opposition Liberty Korea Party, who is co-chair of the National Assembly's fourth industrial revolution forum.

Seok Jong-hoon, head of the Start-up Innovation Venture Office of the Ministry of SMEs and Start-ups, and Lee Sung, major of Guro-gu, which will build a smart human city, also attended the event.

IVS Technology CEO Bae Young-hoon, who will lead KOSHUMA, said, "We will work with some 140 member companies with passion and expertise to study human beings and human life and implement new innovative technologies."

The association was established with the aim of redefining and redesigning all technology in the fourth industrial revolution era to allow humans to ultimately enjoy a happy, safe and convenient life and culture.

"We are going to gather small and medium-sized companies that possess technologies, products, ideas and cultural contents that meet this purpose to study smart human life and engage in all kinds of exchanges while promoting job creation and related industrial development as well as the rights of member companies," said Bae who became the first chairman of KOSHUMA at the inaugural meeting.

KOSHUMA  Chairman Bae also said, "Job creation is an important national task and can be achieved only when small and medium enterprises develop. We will strive to make up for the weaknesses that small and medium-sized businesses have, and try to create many unicorn companies while maintaining close communication with the government."

Chairman Bae graduated from Seoul National University and Wharton School in the U.S. After working for Hyundai Engineering, Samsung Engineering and Samsung SDS, he served as vice chairman of the Korea Venture Business Association, chairman of the Korea High-tech Safety Industry Association (KOHSIA), and chairman of the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA).

Meanwhile, KOSHUMA  Chairman Bae and Guro-gu Mayor Lee Sung signed an agreement to make a smart city for people in the near future on April 18.
