Samsung Electronics has postponed launching events for 'Galaxy Fold' in China and Hong Kong. There is also a possibility that Samsung Electronics may postpone releasing its products for the U.S. that are scheduled for July 26.
Recently, the Burge and CNBC found that Galaxy Fold products received from Samsung Electronics for the latest review showed screen defects one or two days after use.
The media reported that when the Galaxy Fold was opened, one screen was turned off, blinked, or broken lines appeared on the screen.
Samsung Electronics has placed a replacement screen protective shield on top of Galaxy Fold while developing a new display with composite polymer material. Samsung believes such phenomena will happen when users mistake it as a protective film and remove it.
According to industry sources on April 22, Samsung Electronics postponed press briefing events for Galaxy Fold, which were scheduled to be held in Hong Kong on April 23 and Shanghai on April 24.
The company did not explain the exact reason for the postponement of the event, but it appears to have been caused by the aftermath of the Galaxy Fold screen defects that erupted in the U.S.
"We do not delay the release date in China because we did not say anything about China's release date," Samsung Electronics told Yonhap News Agency. "We will announce the schedule of regional events later after checking the sample issues raised at the U.S. event last week."
Samsung Electronics earlier planned to hold a briefing event for the media in South Korea in April before the release of the Galaxy Fold in mid-May, but has not yet fixed the date.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal on April 20 released a video clip criticizing Samsung Electronics' foldable phone, "Galaxy Fold," for refusing to review its products.
Joanna Stern, a WSJ IT reporter, pointed out in an article titled "Rejecting the Galaxy Fold Review" that the Galaxy Fold cannot be reviewed.
