KB Financial Group was named "Carbon Management Sector Honors" in the financial sector for the second consecutive year on April 24 in recognition of its achievements in tackling climate change at the CDP Climate Change 2018.
Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which is recognized as a global sustainability assessment index along with DJSI, is a global project of over 92 countries that financial and investment agencies around the world demand major companies to disclose information related to the environment, such as climate change, water and forest resources.
In 2018, more than 7,000 companies worldwide released their environmental management information through CDP, and the CDP Korea Commission selected best companies in nine sectors, including finance, by evaluating climate change management information for the top 200 companies in terms of market capitalization.
In consideration of its financial impact on the environment, KB Financial Group is offering eco-friendly financial products in various areas, including the release of its "KB Clean Sky" financial instrument package in March, as well as deposits and funds.
Last year, it became the first local commercial bank to issue foreign currency sustainable bonds and is expanding its investment in the renewable energy sector.
In addition, its Integrated IT Center, which is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2019, will be built as the industry's best eco-friendly data center, and the integrated building, which is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2020, will also be created as an eco-friendly building, such as utilizing renewable energy, recycling heavy water, and securing green space, to take the lead in reducing energy and greenhouse gas emissions.
