Central Radio Management Office
The Central Radio Management Office (CRMO) holds "the 10th Radio Guardian day" to celebrate 63 years of establishment.

CRMO first started the radio monitoring service at Gwangjang monitoring branch office at the Radio Communication Bureau of the Ministry of Communications in 1947. And from 2001, every year on June 1, they have had a celebration for "Radio Guardian Day."

Currently, radio stations in Korea number over 11 million (permitted and reported ones), when combined with mobile radio stations, the number of stations would be about 50 million. Also, if various low power radio devices which are used in our life could be included, the use of radio wave is clearly growing rapidly. Last year, over 70 million licensed radio station permission reports were handled and this is a 19 percent increase from 2008. Each year the number is rising.

However, as the use of radio wave grows, the radio interference damage rises as well. In addition, 934 illegal radio stations, 488 cases (total 2. 23 millions of equipments) of illegal broadcasting communication equipments, 389 approval violations and 608 technical standard violations have been uncovered in last year. Illegal use of propagation and dedication could damage on people's lifestyles and industry very heavily, so maintaining optimal radio wave environments is a very important issue all over the world. Therefore, the CRMO tries to focus on various illegal crackdowns to maintain order and conduct prevention campaigns for right usage.  With this, the role of Radio Guardian is going to expand. Not only radio waves, it will broaden its act to mobile phone cloning, illegal spam and illegal acts for the enforcement, operators of unfair conduct of research, broadcasting organizing and advertising spotlight broadcast communications sector.

Kim Jun ho, Director General of the CRMO said "Radio Guardian's role is to protect the environment.  Moreover, we are going to take this role of our civil service agency so that people can use electronic waves easily."
