Hanwha Defense Vice President Bernard S. Champoux , former commander of the U.S. Forces in Korea, delivers a keynote speech at ATD2019 ICE hosted by the Human Resource Development Association, which took place in Washington, D.C. on May 22 (U.S. local time).

Hanwha Group announced its independent leadership training program, called the "procedure for candidates for promotion," at ATD2019 ICE (Association for Talent Development International Conference & Exposition) hosted by the Human Resource Development Association, which took place in Washington, D.C. on May 22 (U.S. local time).

In the announcement, Hanwha Group presented its agony over how to find and foster an organization-inspired leader and its solutions in front of hundreds of human resources development officials from various parts of the country.

Hanwha Defense Vice President Bernard S. Champoux , former commander of the U.S. Forces in Korea, delivered a keynote speech. During the question-and-answer session, people in charge of human resources development from around the world exchanged a variety of views, showing keen attention to the procedure for candidates for promotion.

Most domestic companies decide on promotion by three categories: past performance, capacity at the current level, and service period. On the other hand, Hanwha Group's procedure for candidates for promotion will use the assessment center system, which will comprehensively evaluate individuals' capabilities by using various tasks that can help a large number of evaluators to understand their work capabilities.

Hanwha explained that through this measure, employees' leadership, skills, management knowledge and attitudes are measured objectively and comprehensively to foster the right middle managers.

In his keynote speech, Bernard Champoux stressed that just as General MacArthur's inspirational leadership changed the fate of the Korean War, fostering the right leader greatly affects the rise and fall of businesses.

"It is impressive that the evaluation center that requires a lot of money and manpower is improved and operated to meet the purpose and characteristics of the program to maximize educational effects and reduce costs," said a representative for global corporate talent development.

ATD2019 ICE is a world-renowned human resources development conference. Some 10,000 human resources development officials from about 80 countries around the world will participate. A total of 14 subjects and 300 lectures will be offered, including Oprah Winfrey's keynote speech.

Hanwha Group has participated in the ATD ICE every year to enhance the group's HR sector's expertise and capabilities. This year, it was given a chance to share its special leadership program, the procedure for candidates for promotion.
