1976 The WACL 9th Conf. held at Seoul, Korea

Defenders of freedom and democracy around the globe will convene in Songdo, Incheon, to attend the 2010 WLFD ·APLFD General Conference - which is designed to introduce S. Korea's protection of freedom and remarkable economic growth to 139 member nations, reinforce solidarity and enhance the status of global proponents of liberal democracy. The 2010 WLFD APLFD General Conference is scheduled to be held from June 7th through 11th and attended by 300 delegates from 60 member nations. With the slogan, "A New Vision for Progress in Freedom and Democracy," attendees will refresh their determination to champion freedom. This is not the first time for S. Korea to host the WLFD ·APLFD General Conference. The 1976 WLFD APLFD General Conference was held in S. Korea 34 years ago.

The hosting of the 2010 WLFD APLFD General Conference by Incheon has great significance, on the grounds that as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, the historical meaning of the 915 Incheon Landing Operation can be renewed. What's more, with the G20 Seoul Summit, slated for November this year, the 2010 WLFD APLFD General Conference can serve as a great opportunity to showcase how far Korea has come from being one of the most impoverished nations and its' astonishing economic development to the rest of the world. During the 2010 WLFD APLFD General Conference, Korea's rags-to-riches story can be shared by 117 member nations. In addition, Incheon's international standing as an up-and-coming global city will be publicized, as evidenced by free economic zones and the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

The 2010 WLFD APLFD General Conference will last for five days and consist of the opening and closing ceremonies, the keynote speech, symposiums, Incheon tours and field trips for culture. The keynote speech is scheduled to be delivered by Edwin John Feulner Jr., President of American think tank Heritage Foundation that conducts research and education on politics, economics, security and diplomacy.

1987 WORLD FREEDOM DAY

At each session of the symposiums, discussions will take place and Kim Tae-hyun, professor at Chung-Ang University (CAU), and Kwon Oh-yoon, professor at Dongkuk University, will make presentations on addressing security threats for the sake of peace for humanity and on stabilization of the Asian pacific regions and world peace.

In addition, attendees will pay a visit to Incheon's landmarks - such as North East Asia Trade Tower and Compact Smart City in Songdo - and to War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan and N Seoul Tower. These tours will allow them to see how Korea's liberal democracy has marched forward along with its economic development.
