Police have booked additional plastic surgery staff in connection with Hotel Shilla President Lee Boo-jin's alleged drug use of propofol.
The drug team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said on June 3 that it has booked and is investigating two hospital employees on charges of violating the medical law, in addition to the already booked Mr. A, head of H plastic surgery in southern Seoul.
The employees are accused of fabricating medical records as if they had given propofol to another patient, instead of President Lee.
They reportedly reduced the amount of propofol injections into Lee by using pencil and then erasing them again, while inflating the propofol dosage of another patient.
Lee is suspected of injecting propofol from H plastic surgery between January and October 2016. In response, police first raided the place in March and booked the chief, identified only by his surname A, on charges of violating medical laws. With the additional booking, a total of three hospital officials are being investigated by police.
Police also dispatched seven investigators on May 13 to conduct a second round of raids on H plastic surgery. Police are also said to have completed an investigation into the informant who first raised suspicions of Lee's injection of propofol.
Newstapa reported that the forensics analysis of the informant's phone found circumstantial evidence of manipulating the hospital's books in the contents of the Kakao Talk conversation between employees. It was reported that the conversation had been going back and forth.
"I went to the hospital for scar treatment after a low-temperature burn suturing surgery on my left leg in 2016 (though I don't remember much, several times)," Lee said. "But I have never given any illegal medication as reported."
