KT announced that it has won awards in a total of four categories including Best 5G Commercial Launch and Best Innovative 5G Trial at the 5G World Award 2019 in London on May 12 (local time).

The 5G World Award is a world-renowned award ceremony organized by Informa, a global information and communication technology research institute. The award ceremony will select companies and services that have achieved the best performance and innovation in the world in 14 areas, including LTE, 5G communication technology, network control technology and security technology, from LTE in 2010 to the current 5G.

KT has submitted eight 5G items in a total of seven categories, including "Best 5G Commercial Launch" and "Best Innovative 5G Trial," all of which earned the final nomination at the 5G World Awards and won awards in "Best 5G Commercial Launch", "Telecom Service Innovation", "Best Network Automation Technology" and "Best Innovative 5G Trial".

"Best 5G Commercial Launch" is an area in which technology excellence and service innovation are evaluated for commercialization of 5G. KT is smoothly providing ultra-low delay services, one of the key elements of 5G by building eight 5G edge communication centers, the largest in the country.

At the awards ceremony, KT won the award for "Dr. Lauren" and "Best Innovative 5G Trial" for 5G communication service "Real360" and "Best Network Automation Technology" for "5G Remote Cockpit."

"Real360" is a real-time 5G communication service that allows users to share images they want in three dimensions under any environment using a 360-degree camera. "Dr. Lauren" is an AI failure-cause analysis solution that analyzes network-operating big data with artificial intelligence technology to determine the cause in case of network failure in up to one minute. "5G Remote Cockpit" is a self-driving remote control system that identifies the cause of accidents on the road in real time and ensures the safety of vehicles.

"We are going to secure world-class quality of 5G in the future and continue to introduce innovative 5G services based on this." said Director Park Hyun-jin of KT's 5G Business Headquarters.
