SK Telecom (CEO Park Jung-ho) held "ai.x 2019" at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas on June 25.
The "ai.x 2019" is a conference where global AI leaders and scholars from the artificial intelligence field gather to discuss the direction of AI's evolution.
The conference, held under the theme "Human-Centered AI", served as a venue for exchanges between world-class AI experts and academic officials and created a healthy ecosystem between research and developers. It was followed by lectures by key global AI figures to realize "Human-Centered AI."
First, Kim Yoon, head of SK Telecom's AI center, said in a keynote speech, "AI is like a double-edged sword for humans," stressing the positive and negative effects of AI on humans, and using AI's potential to benefit humans.
Siri co-founder and AI entrepreneur Tom Gruber, known for "Father of Siri," gave a lecture on the "Humanism AI" philosophy that he realized through his Siri development experience. Tom Gruber told conference participants that AI should be developed that can have an inherently beneficial effect on humans.
"AI is a tool that can assist rather than replace humans," James Randy, a professor at Stanford University, said in a lecture. "To make good use of AI, humans themselves must develop as much as the evolution of AI."
"We will continue to provide a venue for sharing knowledge and human exchanges that can help develop AI so that customers can receive the true value they want in the future," said Kim Yoon, head of SK Telecom's AI center.
