See the world brighter and evenly with SK Lighting

The LED industry is the one of the crucial technology contributors to Smart Grid. And since the Korean Government has designated energy savings as a national policy, the LED industry has grown rapidly.

SK Lighting has been focusing on LED development to keep pace with the trend. It might not be necessary to explain why LED is beneficial. It is eco-friendly, has a long life and saves energy.

Especially, the flat fluorescent LED invented by SK Lighting takes a lead role in LED lights.

Kim Myeong Ho, Sales Department Director of SK Lighting explained "We designed LED to have easily removable features, suitable for a wide space such as an office. Then, what is so special about our products The unique feature of our products is built-in convert. Unlike other products, built-in convert actualizes the sleek design, even flash with brighter lights and can be installed very easily."

Currently they are focusing on domestic market sales. But the order counseling has been increasing gradually from Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand. And they hope the company would expand to the U.S. or Europe in the near future.

Kim proudly stated that, "In fact, Japan and America have got more advanced LED technology, Yet, the good price performance that we have is the competitiveness to enable us to attack the overseas markets."

The main products of SK Lightings are "Down Light 9W, 12W, 25W" and "LED Slip Recessed light fixtures."

Hyosung's Electric Vehicle Fast Charger

Hyosung has been putting effort into Korea Heavy Industries to be recognized in the field of technology. Since Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Hyosung have been maintaining their partnership for 10 years and now they plan to take forward the development in Smart Grid with the government's active support.

Kim Jong-Soon, General Manager in Technical Planning Team said, "We are pleased to attend this event. This is a great opportunity to let people know how much Hyosung is engaging smart grid with our technology."

While the electric car industry has got big attention from all over the world, there is one concern. The battery problem! To solve this problem, Hyosung is willing to help out. It might be not an ultimate solution but it surely will help to set the infrastructure.

Kim said, "based on the business history which has possessed power sector on products and the technology, Hyosung is confident to showcase their product named Electric Vehicle Fast Charger. This product by Hyosung is able to charge the electric cars rapidly." It is also expected to help in a smart grid infrastructure, the configuration of the electric car industry.

Remotely controlling valves with Morgan Korea.

Elo Moreno of Venezuala from Taihan, Latin America at Morgan Korea

Morgan Korea are leading manufacturers of electronic actuators in Korea.  They were established in 1987.  Morgan Korea's main product is the multi turn electronic actuator called TM-series.  This product is designed for places where multi valves are necessary such as gates, globe and sluice gate valves.  The product is also adaptable to large butterfly valves and ball valves by the use of a worm gearbox.   Morgan Korea assist by also being able to provide Profibus (2 wire control systems) networks to enable adaptations.

Commencing business in Korea, Morgan Korea were strong water facility suppliers for the domestic market.  They have since become famed as plant suppliers, mostly via product innovations that have enabled them to diversify.  But Morgan Korea's diversification plans are not restricted to actuators.  Morgan Korea have recently begun selling into the China market and have sales goals for the Middle East and South East Asia.  Morgan Korea have become Korean leaders through their reliability and ingenuity and are set to become world leaders through these same consistent product and service features.  Morgan Korea pride themselves on delivery of low maintenance parts that are easy to assemble and disassemble.

Energle, the one box solution to enegy management.

Abdelilah Eddekkaki, Directeur Carge du Deaprtment des Achats Administration des Contrats at Jorf Lasfar looks at Energle

Mr Jung-in, Choi, CEO of the electric power IT Division of Byucksan picked Energle, the consumer end smartgrid total solution provider, as Byucksan's contribution to the way of the future. "The seamless interface of Energle surpasses competitors because the entire solution is inside one box," he said Mr Choi.  Energle's competitors are giants such as Johnson controls, Cisco and Haniware whom find themsleves looking Energle in the eye due to all being concerned with the management of buildings.  "What makes us different," said Mr Choi, "is Energle's focus on energy management while our competitors are still managing buildings."

A company with foresight, Byucksan created Energle with lofty goals in mind and some of those have been realized as Energle is the management system of choice for the Korean Government blue house.  While we cannot access the blue house system from outside, all visitors to the blue house are now able to conduct a mini energy audit of the Korean Government thanks to Byucksan's Energle.

Energle was created with an open standard architechture pattern to maximise scalability and operability of the system.  This has also worked to enable Energle to connect to building management systems.  Additional to being one of the only solutions of its kind to come in a single box, Energle provides service functions in realtime, remote control, internet and iphone monitoring as well as peak power management and reduction of energy analysis.  As if it wasn't enough that Energle managed all of this into a single box, Energle surpasses many simply by being fully commercialised.

Applied on a wider scale, Energle is a piece of Green Tech future that is well positioned for schools, factories, in fact all electrical energy consumers, to atke advantage of to reduce carbon footprints and for use in carbon trading.  The data gateway options for the system also come in wired or wireless versions for differing types of consumers.  Use of Energle to manage something as simple as demand response for energy can produce up to 10-30% in savings.

The Energle one box solution is supported by Energle meters and wall and floor outlets that are individually contollable and also have remote access features.  Energle solutions not only enable energy saving they can also assist with the safety and security of homes and offices through scheduling and data available on usage, for example, in the absence of tenants and a remote landlord.

BHI famed underdogs bite into new markets.

Doris Klein, from Austria, Regional sales manager at Extech instruments at the BHI booth

BHI Korea have gained fame as the company that has succeeded at taking the floor from Doosan in the course of their trading.  Established in 1998, BHI's core business is BOP (Balance of power) and HRSG (heat recovery steam generator) for plants.  While BHI enjoy an advantage as the underdog they constantly innovate the applications of their products and related systems to differing types of plants as the market for heat exchange equipment looks as if it is both here to stay, and increasing in its competiveness.

With a firm and public ethics policy in place BHI cite their next generation product as their boilers and turbines.  BHI also cite their most popular sales areas as power plants.  With a large volume of their sales derived from the U.S.A. and European markets, BHI are still looking to expand.  The strengths of their products is in their engineering as well as the company's ability to export.

BHI's HRSG equipment has an important role to play in larger scale Green Tech.  HRSG is, generally speaking, a system of exchanging heat, specifically what is called 'waste heat' into a commodity such as steam that is then able to be converted again into power for use by consumers.  Many plants and factories generate too much heat in the course of their production and it is the capture of this watse heat that will enable more efficient businesses, less carbon debt for companies, safer and cleaner factory surrounds and communities and a new way forward in the planning of plants and construction of factories.  Consulting BHI at the outset of a project could greatly improve a company's long term value via the provision of a Green Tech approach.

Omni System rewiring homes

Omni System was established in 1997.  Operating out of Gyeonggi-do and Yeoju, Omni System have evolved to hold 70-80 percent of market share for smartgrid metering systems within apartments in Korea. Omni System also carry the Korean Green Tech banner offshore.  Omni System have project teams and links that work with select partners in the Middle East, Africa, South America and South East Asia, the Ukraine, Singapore and Russia.  The Omni System of smartgrid has also been applied with offshore partners.Omni System developed their smartgrid, 5th generation equipment, by combining the knowledge they possessed in software, hardware and information technology.  The system itself is comprised of components and where applicable interfaces for those components, some of which can be enabled remotely.

Omni Systems' meters are capable of measuring water, gas, electricity, heat, whiteware consumption and light.  The strengths of the Omni System as quoted by Lee, Yang-Ki, Director of research and development are that "the system can collect and manage energy data from networks.  We have exceeded our traditional competitors in this capacity because of Omni Systems' ability to integrate, manage and analyze a greater variety of elements in home networks."  Mr Lee, was of course referring to metering for smartgrid networks, not just for the home.  Omni System also sell to KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) and have been awarded the type test standard from KEPCO in multiple years.

Omni System have also mastered automated meter reading (AMR) and Automated meter infrastructure (AMI) to support their superior quality meters.  Leaders in green tech for the home, Omni System enjoyed steady popularity at the Global PowerTech exhibition, a popularity that is surely a reflection of dedicating 10 researchers to produce lighter and more versatile metering for Koreans and new markets.  The success of Omni System is also apparent in their making available mobile applications of their technology and of course their 2007 listing on the KOSDAQ (Korea stock exchange).  With multiple patents and design approvals Omni System innovate for easier and cleaner lives for their customers.
