SKT to create 5G clusters from Seoul to Jeju

Starting in August, "AR Zoo" will also open at Olympic Park and Yeouido Park, where visitors can meet giant animals such as cats and puppies implemented with AR technology. Through SK Telecom's high-quality rendering technology and Visual Effects, the giant animals deliver a real sense of detail as its moves.

SK Telecom is going to create 5G clusters from Seoul to Jeju in S. Korea. It will form "Ultra Dense Networks" according to 5G characteristics and make 5G Factory and hospital as mecca of 4th Industrial Revolution.

At 5G Smart Office located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, SK Telecom (CEO President Park Jung-ho) introduced its strategy of 5G Cluster, which is centered on 4 major areas of 5G service, 5G business district, 5G Summer, and 5G B2B.

"5G cluster" refers to 5G environment where new ICT technologies such as AR/VR and AI are converged based on Ultra Dense Networks. 

SK Telecom will select "5G Cluster," including 10 key shopping districts in the country most visited by customers, 5G Roll Park and AR Zoo, to showcase differentiated 5G services and benefits that can only be enjoyed in those areas. It selected 10 regions, including Gangnam, Gwanghwamun, Konkuk University, Hongik University, Jamsil, Daegu's Dongseongno, Dusan-dong in Daejeon and Nampo-dong in Busan in advance.

The company expects to increase customer benefits through AR membership, which covers the nation's commercial districts, and also contribute to revitalizing the area's alley area. Customers can also enjoy 5GX experience zones, selfies, stamp tours and games linked to local events in the region starting in August.

SK Telecom will also open "5G Boost Park," including 5G Roll Park, AR Zoo and 5G Stadium. Based on it`s high-speed network, Boost Park is a space where customers can enjoy fast 5G speeds, services and abundant benefits. The 5G LoL Park, operated by SK Telecom at LCK Stadium in Jongno, Seoul, will provide customers with unique fun of the games, including VR field broadcasting and VR replay.

SK Telecom is planning to create eight kinds of 5G B2B clusters, including 5G Factory, 5G Smart Hospital, 5G Smart Logistics and Distribution, Smart City, Media, Public Safety, Smart Office and Defense, to innovate future industries.

"SK Telecom will provide unimaginable services and fun to customers around 5G clusters," said Yoo Young, head of MNO Business Department at SK Telecom.
