Ssangyong Motor's "Very New Tivoli" has been under controversy for defects just a month after its launch. Consumers are complaining of output abnormalities while driving. Ssangyong suspects it is a problem with the ISG system, but the exact cause remains unknown so far.

According to Ssangyong Motor and others on July 24, many of the consumers of Very New Tivoli are complaining about output abnormalities.

Typical symptoms include the inability of the car to speed up even when pressing an accelerator pedal after a stop, and the sudden surge of RPM immediately after departure. The temporary phenomenon is said to last from several seconds to several minutes.

There are also various cases. Some consumers complain of the same symptoms several times, while others have experienced the same symptoms only once.

Ssangyong Motor currently counts about 20 cases reported to the service center for such problems, but about 40 cases are mentioned in the Tivoli-related consumer cafe.

In the case of a Tivoli driver in his 20s, he said his car stopped in the middle of a six-lane road and felt the threat of his life. It came a day after the car was delivered from its sales office last week.

Considering the release of Very New Tivoli last month, the problem is rapidly spreading among consumers who have taken delivery of their vehicles. It is unusual for new cars to spread with the same symptoms.

Ssangyong Motor is viewing this as an issue of the ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system. The ISG turns off the start on a stop and turns on the start of acceleration. In case of Very New Tivoli, ISG is installed as a standard for all two-wheel automatic transmission models.

"We suspect it is an ISG problem because the symptoms of the problem are typical of ISG system problems," an official of Ssangyong Motor said in an interview with Biz Tribune. "We are trying to figure out exactly what is the problem."
