Samsung C&T topped the evaluation of construction capacity of South Korean construction companies for the sixth consecutive year this year. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on June 29 that Samsung C&T topped the list of construction companies with 17.515 trillion won in civil engineering projects, based on a comprehensive evaluation of construction performance, management status, technology capability and credit rating.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction came in second with 11.735 trillion won, followed closely by Daelim Industrial with 11 trillion won.
GS Engineering & Construction, which ranked fifth last year, moved up by one notch to the fourth place. Daewoo Engineering (9.931 trillion KRW) came next, followed by POSCO Engineering (6th, 7.779 trillion won) and Hyundai Engineering (7th, 7.3563 trillion won).
Although Lotte Engineering & Construction (6,644 trillion won) remained in eighth place, HDC Hyundai Industrial Development, which ranked 10th last year, rose to ninth place with 5.237 trillion won, and Hoban Engineering & Construction newly ranked 10th.
SK Engineering & Construction, which ranked ninth last year, fell 표 two notches to 11th place.
The construction capability evaluation is a system that applies from Aug. 1 after making a comprehensive evaluation of the performance, management status, technical skills and credibility of the construction work to allow order issuers to select a right builder.
